Relief Embellishments

Adding relief elements to the label design is a very common technique with which the designers want to add a sense of three-dimensionality to the labels, because of the shadows that are created by the relief when illuminating at an angle. The relief also allows the designers to add tactile element to the label complementing the basic visual feeling with another sense.

The relief is suitable for use mainly on labels printed on paper and similar materials that have a compression and deformation factor and can maintain the deformation over time.

Deboss

Deboss is a printing method in which by pressure and heat a relief is formed in the material on which it is printed. Some papers are more suitable for deboss than others, so it is important to choose the right material for the specific application.

Emboss

Embossing uses a pressure and temperature to slightly raise some elements of the label. It gives the label a structure that looks as if it is part of the material. It can be used to add frames, whole elements, or design structures, as well as highlight certain design features.

Braille

Braille is a type of emboss that consists of raised dots that can be read by people with visual impairments or by specially designed machines. The Braille letters have precise requirements for the raise height and the correct formation of the points.
